I had the chance to visit RUCHI during Diwali for a short volunteering experience, meant to learn about the support the amazing projects run by the organisation - and to join the Diwali celebrations too. It was truly a beautiful experience!
RUCHI is a solid, well rooted NGO that has been doing meaningful work for years, especially in supporting sustainable agriculture - building water conservation barriers and tanks and to createing gravity-based irrigation systems to bring water to the fields.
I was welcomed with incredible warmth and generosity, both by the NGO's director and by a local volunteer who showed me around, explained so many interesting things and helped me discover the local culture and landscape.
Overall, a wonderful and eye-opening experience that I will always keep in my heart - it helped me understand how people live in this challenging region and gave me the chance to contribute, even in a small way, by planting garlic and potatoes.
