Maharaja Culture Workcamp – Volunteering in India 2017

Ruchi NGO offers the opportunity to join the Maharaja Culture workcamp that will take place in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, between 3-15 July 2017.

Our volunteering in India opportunities are a great chance to explore the millennial culture of India. The Maharaja Culture Workcamp is your occasion to come and visit Rajasthan, the land of kings. The long story of this Indian state will be the major part of your stay.

Our workcamp will take place in Jodhpur, the second largest city of Rajasthan. The ‘Sun City’ was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 AD. The main feature of Jodhpur landscape is the huge Meherangarh, a fortress built on the top of a rocky ridge.

During your volunteering period you will discover more about Jodhpur history, that is closely related to the Rathore clan history. The scheduled activities will broaden your horizons on environment and livelihood issues. Some work will involve teaching moments with children in schools and the renovation of the school building.

About the accommodation

Living with other volunteers, you will have the chance to share your cultures. The conditions are simple, a cook will prepare the meals, but you are sometimes expected to help him or directly cook your own meals.

Free time

The weekend is free time for the volunteers: the good position of Jodhpur gives you the opportunity to reach and visit Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jaipur or Ajmer; a camel safari could be arranged: if you are interested in it, don’t forget your sleeping bag! After the workcamp you will have countless options to volunteer or visit Rajasthan and the other Indian states.

How to get there

International flights arrive at Jaipur, 330 km from Jodhpur, or at Delhi, our capital city, 590 km from our location. A good option to reach Jodhpur is by train; the railway stops in the town itself.

Participation Fee: Euro 220.
